Ubuntu 19.04 new features and release date

We all know Ubuntu 18.10 have been released, and the wait is only of the upcoming release of Ubuntu 19.04.

Now as we all are aware that every Ubuntu gets released with codename associated with it which is of two letters associated with it. You can take the example of Ubuntu 18.04 and 18.10.

They have Bionic Beaver and Cosmic Cuttlefish respectively. You would have observed one thing here the first word is an adjective as the second one is species.

The release date for Ubuntu 19.04

Officially Ubuntu 19.04 will be released on 18th April 2019. Below details would give you fair idea about how updates will be released.

  • Kernel Freeze: 1st April 2019
  • Beta Release Date: 28th March 2019

Now same as non-LTS releases, Ubuntu 19.04 shall also follow 26-week schedule and will be released on 18th April 2019.

Everyone is thinking and curious to know that “What new feature we will be able to see in the new Ubuntu 19.04?”

Interesting right? Why not being as a consistent user of Ubuntu I would love to know what are new features new version will provide.

For sure we have some latest features in the upcoming version of Ubuntu 19.04, but as of now, no official confirmation has been made on the same.

Some of them are as follows:

  • Ubuntu 19.04 Wallpaper
  • Yaru Theme Support
  • GNOME 3.32
  • Linux Kernel 5.0

Ubuntu 19.04 default wallpaper

Wallpaper should not be a great feature to look after, but yes, wallpapers give better feeling while working with computers isn’t it?

The below wallpaper you can observe the Disco Dango is easily recognizable

Default Yaru Theme supports more

You know what, Ubuntu version 18.10 gave us the all-new amazing Yaru theme. Ubuntu has taken Yaru theme to another level of user friendliness by extending use of third party application on it. You no need to change the theme now most of the time.

Below images is the best explanation of what I just said

GNOME 3.32

GNOME 3.32 is my most favorite among all the updates, it is default desktop space we can use in Ubuntu 19.04.

One can be disappointed after using a customized version of GNOME 3.32 given by Ubuntu as it does not provide all the features in the customized version.

No improvement section is given in the GNOME framework the Ubuntu software version. Observation is evident as some Icons are already replaced by Yaru theme.

The best part is the Global app menu still exists in Ubuntu 19.04.

Below can be some features listed in GNOME 3.32

  • Sound settings are revamped
  • Folders on desktop are given
  • Granular control provided in night light
  • Permission control like an android application

Linux Kernel 5.0

Are you using additional graphics card? Then you can expect more improvement and better hardware support.

Ubuntu 19.04 is going to use Linux Kernel 5.0 for better hardware supports and perferomance improvement.

Android integration is; still, we have to wait for in Ubuntu

Slightly disappointed but it’s true we have to wait for one more update as Android integration will not be part of Ubuntu 19.04.

You might have heard of KDEConnect which gives support of Android device management through desktop. You can control your desktop volume from your desktop in KDE desktop but we have to wait for next update to let this happen in Ubuntu may be.

Better power optimization with optimized boot time can also be expected in the coming update.

Ubuntu 19.04 Daily Builds

Before releasing it, you can download Ubuntu 19.04 daily build ISO from below link.

Warning:

As we know Ubuntu 19.04 is not released yet and it is in development phase, where every day some changes are there. So, I recommend you to use install on VirtualBox, or VMware for testing this daily release.
